First Look: Artists’ VR is a groundbreaking virtual reality exhibition curated by Eevo and presented through a free mobile VR app with the collaboration of the New Museum and Rhizome.
This unique initiative showcases a diverse range of experimental approaches to digital animation within virtual reality. The exhibition features six distinct works, each offering a different perspective: a tribute to victims of police violence by Jayson Musson, an eerie representation of deconstructed video game characters by Rachel Rossin, a journey through an imaginative industrial nightclub by Jacolby Satterwhite, a dynamic labyrinth inhabited by moving figures created by Peter Burr in collaboration with Porpentine, a simulation of the afterlife by Jeremy Couillard, and a surreal exploration of an alternate universe filled with both ordinary and magical avatars by Jon Rafman.
Launched in 2012, First Look is a pioneering digital art commissioning and exhibition program jointly run by the New Museum and Rhizome.
